I CAN has programmes and resources to help schools support this crucial stage and prepare young people for life beyond school.

Talk About Talk Secondary is an evidenced intervention that helps students aged 14 to 18 with communication difficulties to develop the communication skills they need for the work place. The programme consists of a series of 13 one-hour lessons delivered by trained school staff that prepares students to co-deliver workshops about communication.
I CAN’s Talk for Work Profile is a way of profiling student’s strengths and difficulties in the communication skills needed for the workplace. The Profile is designed to be used with students in Year 9 and above. As well as being the tracking tool for Talk about Talk Secondary, the Profile is available to schools as a tool in its own right. It is accompanied by a booklet of practical activities and ideas for developing work-related communication skills.
